A comment I have routinely received throughout the years when I have said I am off to attend a yoga class, during my training to teach yoga or now as a someone who guides yoga classes is: ''oh I am not flexible enough to do yoga''.

When I started going to yoga classes I always hoped there was a space at the back so no one else could really see what I was doing & I used to compare myself to those who had done yoga for years or the popular images I saw on social media, but despite all this self-criticism I found that the movements through poses & the breathwork allowed my mind to quieten. I always left a class feeling calmer & refreshed. What I learnt is that there are always options for different abilities & flexibilities, the beauty of yoga is that it wasn’t created for one body type but as something we can all benefit from. So, if you have ever wanted to give yoga a try, do come along to one of my classes or go to a class someone else guides just to see if it’s something that feels a fit for you at this moment.

Oh & by the way, over the years I have become more flexible but not flexible like I initially thought I should be & I still adapt poses for my own body. Yoga has improved my balance & posture (although some days are still better than others!), calms my busy mind & has made  me so aware of the benefits of moving especially in this day & age where we sit so much!

I trained to teach Seasonal Yoga, a type of Yoga that creates a beautiful balance between traditional Yoga practices whilst also honouring Chinese energy systems within the body.

Depending upon the season of the year, our bodies and minds feel different. In Autumn & Winter there is a natural slowing down & drawing inwards so classes focus on more gentle nourishing movements. Spring & Summer see our energy rising and classes are planned to match this encouraging us to live in harmony with the environment around us.

Classes create a space where you can move whatever your ability. Including breathwork & moments of calm, you can leave feeling refreshed & restored. No experience is needed & options of adjusting poses are given so that each class is your own individual practice that you can tailor to suit your unique body.

Whatever time of year, a fundamental aim of each class is to allow you to move your body  and use your breath to help deal with the inevitable stresses we all go through in this fast paced world.
